 1588.    ---------------.  [IVANOV, K. N.]  [X-Ray Examination of Copper Methyl Alcohol Catalysts.]  Mem. Inst. Chem. All-Ukrain. Acad. Sci., vol. 1, 1934, pp. 49-55 (in German, pp. 56-57); Chem. Abs., vol. 29, 1935, p. 6179.

Activation of CO and H2 molecules by Cu-ZnO-Cr2O3 catalysts (I) is due to active Cu and CuO molecules, the dispersion of which is increased by the ZnO.  Cr2O2 acts as a promoter forming solid solutions with CO.  Inactivation of (I) is due to diminution in the dispersion of Cu, to reduction of active CuO, and to increase in the parameters of the Cu lattice consequent on conversion into a-brass.
