Presence of NH3 during the preparation of the catalyst increases subsequent yields in the benzine synthesis from CO and H2.  Reduction temperatures for maximum yields of fluid products are lowered from 450° to 300°-350°.  Addition of NH3 during the reduction, however, lowers the yields.  Addition of 5% dry K2CO3 to the catalyst, prepared in presence of NH3 to increase alkalinity, decreases its activity slightly.  Impregnation with K2CO3 by solution almost completely removes activity.
