835.    ---------------.  [EMMETT, P. H., AND SCHULTZ, J. F.]  Equilibrium in the System:  Co-CO2-CoO-CO.  Indirect Calculation of the Water-Gas Equilibrium Constant.  Jour. Am. Chem. Soc., vol. 52, 1930, pp. 1782-1793; Chem. Abs., vol. 24, 1930, p. 3157.

The value of the equilibrium constant K1=CO2/CO for the reaction CoO+CO=Co+CO2 was determined by a flow system at 450°, 515°, and 570° to be 489.6, 245.9, and 148.4, respectively.  Combination of these values with the previously determined constant K2=H2O/H2 for the reaction (abs. 833) CoO+H2=Co+H2O gives indirect values for the water gas constant K=(CO)(H2)/(CO2)(H2) that agree well with the values determined directly by Neumann and Kohler (abs. 2436).
