Preliminary paper.  Theories of magnetism predict that the properties of thin films should differ from those of massive samples.  Experiments with thin films of Fe, Co, and Ni show that the characteristics of the magnetization curve vary with film thickness.  Barkehausen discontinuities disappear at a thickness of 1.2 x 10-5 cm. for Co, 0.8 x 10-5 for Ni, and 1.3 x 10-5 for Fe.
