614.    ---------------.  [COLLIERY GUARDIAN.]  Fischer Process, France.  Vol. 159, 1939, p. 170.

Report presented by the Société des produits chimiques Courriéres-Kuhlmann, a subsidiary of the Mines de Courriéres and établissements Kuhlmann, mentions that in 1938 the plant for the production of synthetic fuel contributed for the first time to the profits.  The plant uses the Fischer-Tropsch process and the regular output is 30 tons of synthetic petroleum for every working day.  The capacity may enable a doubled production.  This installation is the only one in France that was installed and that is run without any financial assistance from the State, and the production proves beneficial.  It is protected by the almost prohibitive duties imposed on all imported petroleum.
