      On passing an electric current through a mixture of CO and H2, after 5 hr. about 6% of CH4 was detected in accordance with the reaction

CO+3H2=CH4+H2O.

     On passing an electric current through a mixture of CO and H2, the resultant gas was found to contain, besides H2 and unchanged CO2, some CO and CH4 and an oily liquid identified as HCOOH.
