Assuming 2,000 and 4,000 m.3 of H2 is required, respectively, for the Bergius and Fischer processes and that H2 from water-gas costs 30 centimes/m.3, it is estimated that the cost of H2 required for 1 metric ton of gasoline would be 600 francs for the Bergius process and 1,200 francs for the Fischer process.  Much cheaper H2 could be obtained from the carbonization of 900°-920° of anthracite agglomerates, which can give 300 m.3/ton of gas containing 72-74% of H2.
